At St. Xavier’s students are empowered to be classroom experts. In this journey of exploration and motivation, the teachers and the school children become informed co-learners. They learn to work collaboratively to solve each other’s problems. In this way a positive environment of mutual help and respect is created, sustained and celebrated.
At our school we use the story telling method to add a creative dimension to the teaching- learning process. This method stimulates the mind and facilitates learning of complex concepts or factual details and removes barriers posed by unfamiliar vocabulary.
Role Play is another technique we use at St. Xavier’s School to make teaching – learning an active and engaging process. As a tool, Role Play provides students opportunities to apply concepts learnt in real life context. This method promotes learning in a group and develop skills traits and values such as collaboration, problem solving, confidence, empathy and so on.
Education cannot be constrained into watertight compartment, physical, social, emotional development and moral values should ideally go hand in hand with intellectual development. An integrated approach to learning provides immense opportunities while making the experience as enjoyable as it is educative. We at St. Xavier’s believe in experimental learning that happens in an environment beyond the classroom, making it fun and meaningful. By this, our students explore, experiment and exceed all expectations and develop a love for learning all their lives.
At St. Xavier’s students have a feeling of a home away from home. They are encouraged to ask even the most obvious questions so that they truly understand and learn what is explained. This goes a long way in building the child’s self-confidence. Parents are encouraged to meet the teachers for any reason so that there is no communication gap. Our music studio is carefully and aesthetically designed to make teaching and learning the fine arts a delightful experience. It is adequately equipped to suit specific needs such as appropriate flooring, acoustics, lighting, projection facilities and suitable software. In addition to meeting health and safety requirements, these studios provide welcoming and supportive environments to students and staff alike- to expand their knowledge and deepen their enjoyment of dance, drama and music in all the various forms.
We have designed our visual art studio with the aim of exploring, creativity and imagination among the young minds. These artistic skills develop the neural system that produce a broad spectrum of benefits ranging from fine motor skills to creativity and improved emotional balance. It strengthens problem solving, cognitive and critical thinking skills adding to overall academic achievement.
At Xavier’s education is student - centric. They learn from multi sources and for this reason they are exposed to the use of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and multimedia. Such technological skills allow the children to explore new ways of thinking, using both their creative and logical thought processes. It has facilitated communication, improved and added new dimensions to our teaching and increased the quality of activities assigned to students.
St. Xavier’s provides a platform to indulge in fantasy, study human nature and express it in theatre art. Through participation in Drama, students develop their capacities of expression and imagination, learn to focus on and use their senses in a safe and supportive environment. The school produces plays of high artistic merit and performs them occasionally.
Sports have been viewed as a way to stay healthy and fit. Sports help in the overall development of students. In this regard Physical Education Teachers prepares children in school to face the challenges of life. They enhance physical and mental abilities of students and help them achieve the goals of their life. The training of the students starts right at the Pre-Primary level.
We at St. Xavier’s aim to develop the next generation to become responsible, influential and inspiring leaders. One of the greatest challenges we are facing, is environmental change. It is our aim to instill a sense of awareness in children today, from the youngest at the Nursery level to class 10 students, so that they can start to reduce carbon footprints and help to protect the earth for tomorrow.
